Educators

Erik Conklin and the Prism Team have decades of experience working with students, parents, teachers and administrators.

Dr. Conklin and the Prism Team help educators clearly identify goals, motivations, and areas of focus. Assisting educators understand the physiology and neuroscience of their own practice helps clarify how they can better serve their students. Professional development sessions and workshops have been presented in partnership with organizations such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California Continuation School Association (CCEA), and the California Educational Research Association (CERA). As well, professional development workshops have been facilitated at all educational levels from Pre-K to doctoral programs in the university setting.

Past Workshops Include:

  • Teens: Brains, Body, Stress, and Success

  • Mindful Parents and Teens

  • Mindful Reflective Leadership

We Offer:

  • Pre-built programs that range from 1 hour to multi-day workshops

  • Custom programs that integrate specific themes and that have integrated fun games with neuroscience and physiology in order to help all educational stakeholders understand themselves and how they can perform to their highest level, no matter their particular position in the realm of education.

What Past Participants Say About Our Program

This course has really helped me become aware of my values. I am so focused on my professional direction that my health takes a backseat sometimes in that I don’t sleep much, eat regularly (or healthy), and I am susceptible to stress and anxiety (though I am finding better ways to manage it all, thanks to this course!).
As a new leader of my school the mindfulness exercises changed the feelings of anxiety to healthy amounts of nervousness for the beginning of the school year.
This program is teaching me more about myself than I anticipated. I thought I knew me well – this program is helping me to be more aware of my weaknesses and how they affect my leadership style.
Engaging these mindfulness practices help me be able to better lean into the discomfort of the situations that arise as an educator that is focused on social justice and equity education. By being more present and aware I would be less afraid of what others think of my focus and would have more confidence in engaging in courageous conversations.
